Precision Piecing Boot Camp with Harriet Hargrave
Do you have problems making a 12” block 12”
square? Do
all your pieced units fit together
perfectly? Do you have precise points all the time?
Are your quilt tops flat and square and ready to quilt
when they are finished? If you have answered no to any
of these questions then the Art of Classic Quiltmaking
retreat will set you on the right path to precision
piecing.
Beginning with an understanding of textiles (grain,
weave, thread count, thread, etc.) and finding the
correct seam allowance that allows your piece to fit
together perfectly.
We
will start with 4-patch units and continue on with
flying geese, alternation triangles, quarter square
triangles and finish with LeMoyne Stars. You
will try several different techniques for creating
each of these elements and find the best and most
accurate technique for you. The end result will give
you a wonderful Center Medallion quilt top ready to
quilt.
This
retreat is a great class for beginners but veteran piecers will
come away with their skilled refreshed and refined.
Based
on Harriet’s best selling book Art of Classic
Quiltmaking co-authored with Sharyn Craig, a must
have in every quilters collection as it is a textbook
for piecing which can liberate your quiltmaking so you
can make exactly the quilt you want not just the quilt
on the patterns you have purchased.
If
you are serious about wanting to improve your piecing
ability this a great retreat for you and a wonderful
4-day get away.
