Thread Weights:
Mettler No. 30 100% cotton machine
embroidery thread (yellow printing)
A heavier cotton embroidery thread that is excellent for
blanket stitch appliquè and heavy fill-in embroidery.
Mettler No. 40 100% cotton quilting
thread (brown printing)
A heavier thread that is excellent for hand quilting, hand
stitching bindings and hanging sleeves onto quilts. Not
recommended for machine piecing or quilting.
Mettler No. 50 Silk finish 100%
cotton sewing thread (purple printing)
This is good thread for your piecing and machine quilting. Use
it for all construction seams in 100% cotton quilting fabrics,
the bobbin when quilting with nylon, top and bobbin when
quilting with cotton - 1/2" apart of more.
Mettler No. 60 100% cotton fine
embroidery thread (green printing)
A very fine thread used for satin stitch & straight stitch
appliquè, embroidery, very close machine quilting (1/2" or
closer), paper piecing, buttonholes, and the bobbin thread for
all embroidery and appliquè techniques.
DMC 50/2 100% cotton embroidery thread
Probably the highest quality cotton machine embroidery thread
available. Many colors have several shades from light to dark
available. Harriet’s favorite for satin stitching and machine
quilting. Has a lovely sheen.
YLI #100 Silk 100% Silk
thread
This is wonderful thread for heirloom sewing or for small
close machine quilting. Silk has a sheen and a softness that
cotton cannot achieve if you are quilting an antique
reproduction quilt or if you are working on sateen.
Presencia 50/3 100%
cotton sewing thread
This is probably the highest quality 100% cotton
thread available for your piecing and machine quilting. Use it
for all construction seams in 100% cotton quilting fabrics,
the bobbin when quilting with nylon, top and bobbin when
quilting with cotton - 1/2" apart of more.
Presencia 60/3 100%
cotton sewing thread
This is probably the highest quality 100% cotton
thread available for your piecing and machine quilting and is
both fine and strong so is ideal for precision piecing where
you want the most accurate seam allowance. Use it for all
construction seams in 100% cotton quilting fabrics, the bobbin
when quilting with nylon, top and bobbin when quilting with
cotton - 1/2" apart of more.
