Barbara Chainey is one of the foremost quilting teachers in the United Kingdom, her specialty being traditional hand quilting and quilting design. During the 20 years she has been teaching, writing and designing, she has inspired and encouraged countless quilters of all skill levels.  Barbara teaches and judges extensively in the US and the UK. Since 1991 more than 100 of her elegant and original quilting designs have been translated into stencils. Barbara's first book The Essential Quilter is widely regarded as a standard reference for quilting design, and her latest book Quilt It! is well on its way.

Lee Cleland <PHOTO> is a freelance patchwork/quilting teacher specializing in machine quilting. Quilting and teaching are her passions. Not only is she interested in imparting information and correct technique, but also inspiring students to have confidence in themselves and to experiment. Lee lives in the bush at her property "Skyridge" in northern New South Wales, Australia. She is very well known in Australia and New Zealand, as well as the US. She is best known for her best selling first book Quilting Makes the Quilt, released in 1994. Feathers That Fly Lees latest book was released in 2002. Lee believes that quilting should ALWAYS BE ENJOYABLE!

When Harriet Hargrave <PHOTO> first started showing her heirloom style quilts in 1982, it caused quite a stir. At that point in time machine quilting was considered unthinkable on a "hand" made quilt. Machine quilting was something on comforters that you bought at the store! The feathers, stippling, and echo quilting on Harriet's quilts turned thousands of quilters onto the possibilities offered by their sewing machines. Harriet's book Heirloom Machine Quilting is the industry standard and the most commonly used workbook for beginning machine quilting classes. She has just rewritten it for the publication of the 4th edition, to be released at this conference in June, 2004. Harriet has been traveling internationally since 1984, spreading the word and teaching thousands and thousands of people the joys and rewards of heirloom style machine quilting n a home sewing machine. She was chosen as one of the 88 Leaders of the Quilt World in 1994, nominated for the Quilters Hall of Fame in 2003 (pending), was a finalist for the All-American Quilter honor, and internationally recognized as the "fairy godmother" of machine quilting. She is the author of Mastering Machine Appliqué, Art of Classic Quiltmaking (co-authored with Sharyn Craig), and From Fiber to Fabric. She has owned and operated Harriet's Treadle Arts for 23 years, and travels extensively teaching and lecturing.

Sue Nickels <PHOTO> Sue started as a hand quilter and gradually changed her focus to machine work. She has been teaching nationally for over 12 years. Sue has written two book on machine techniques, her most recent "Machine Quilting- A Primer of Techniques." Many of her quilts have won awards at national shows, including IQA's 2003 Master Award for Machine Artistry and AQS's 2004 Machine Workmanship Award for "The Space Quilt" made with her sister Pat Holly. Sue provides a relaxed environment for students to learn machine techniques that are time-saving, never compromising quality workmanship for speed!

Hari Walner <PHOTO> Hari is the author of Trapunto By Machine and Exploring Machine Trapunto. These two ground-breaking books introduced her techniques of working with water-soluble thread to achieve beautiful trapunto effects with your sewing machine. She is a co-founder of Beautiful Publications, LLC, a small publishing company that specializes in publishing and distributing her Continuous Line quilting patterns world wide. Hari has taught on an international level, although most of her teaching venues are in the United States.
